Organic & Natural Farming

Under various government and development initiatives such as CBBO–CSS (Central Sector Scheme for Formation and Promotion of FPOs), PODF–ID  and other allied programmes, Social Action for Rural Development (SARDA) is actively implementing multiple farmer-centric interventions. These include the promotion and strengthening of Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs), Farm Sector Promotion Fund (FSPF) initiatives, Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programmes (LEDP)BIRSA Krishak Pathshala, and Tribal Development Fund – WADI projects, among others.

The organisation works closely with farmers to encourage environmentally sustainable agricultural practices that contribute to improved soil health, biodiversity conservation, and safer food systems.

SARDA promotes eco-friendly farming methods such as composting, use of bio-fertilisers, vermicomposting, integrated pest management (IPM), mulching, crop diversification, and conservation of indigenous and traditional seeds. These practices help farmers gradually reduce their dependence on chemical fertilisers and pesticides while improving the long-term productivity of their land.

To support this transition, SARDA establishes demonstration plots, farmer field schools, and capacity-building training programmes where farmers can learn and observe sustainable agricultural practices in real field conditions. Through Krishak Pathshala sessions, exposure visits, and hands-on training, farmers are equipped with practical knowledge on natural farming techniques, soil fertility management, and climate-resilient agriculture.

By promoting organic and natural farming, SARDA helps farmers lower production costs, enhance soil fertility, improve crop quality, and access better market opportunities, ultimately contributing to sustainable rural livelihoods and environmentally responsible agriculture.
