Agribusiness & Market Linkages
Social Action for Rural Development (SARDA) promotes sustainable agribusiness development and market linkages to enhance farmers’ income and strengthen rural agricultural economies. The organization supports farmers and producer groups in transitioning from subsistence farming to market-oriented agriculture by developing structured market systems and value-driven agribusiness models.
As part of these efforts, SARDA is currently implementing and supporting 62 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) across multiple states with support from leading national institutions such as NABARD, Small Farmers’ Agribusiness Consortium (SFAC), National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), and Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Federation (UPPCF). These FPOs are promoted under key national initiatives including the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) for Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs under the CBBO model and NABARD’s Producer Organization Development Fund – Interest Free Loan (PODF-ID), among other institutional programs.
Through these platforms, SARDA facilitates aggregation of agricultural produce, collective procurement of inputs, and improved price realization for farmers. The organization actively builds market linkages by connecting FPOs with buyers, traders, processors, agri-business companies, and institutional markets.
SARDA also supports market assessments, buyer–seller meets, business planning, branding, packaging, and value addition initiatives, enabling farmer collectives to access larger and more profitable markets. By strengthening supply chains and promoting farmer-led enterprises, SARDA contributes to sustainable agribusiness growth, improved farm incomes, and rural entrepreneurship development.
