Community Mobilisation
Strengthening Grassroots Institutions for Sustainable Development
Community mobilisation is at the core of Social Action for Rural Development (SARDA)’s approach to sustainable and inclusive rural development. SARDA works closely with rural communities to build strong grassroots institutions, promote collective action, and ensure active community participation in planning and implementing development initiatives.
The organisation facilitates the formation and strengthening of Self Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Groups, Village Development Committees (VDCs), Watershed Committees, and Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). SARDA is actively supporting and implementing FPOs through national initiatives such as the CBBO-CSS scheme and NABARD’s PODF-ID, as well as programs like FSPF, LEDP, Krishak Pathshala, and TDF-WADI, thereby strengthening community institutions and livelihoods.
Through these platforms, SARDA helps communities take ownership of development, improve access to government schemes, and strengthen their collective decision-making, resource management, and enterprise development.
SARDA adopts a participatory and inclusive approach, ensuring the involvement of women, tribal communities, and youth in all stages of development. We run capacity-building programs, awareness campaigns, training sessions, and exposure visits to strengthen local leadership and institutional governance.
By building strong and self-sustaining community institutions, SARDA ensures that development interventions are locally driven, scalable, and sustainable, leading to improved livelihoods, social inclusion, and long-term rural transformation.
