Agri Extension Services
Social Action for Rural Development (SARDA) provides comprehensive agricultural extension services aimed at strengthening farmers’ technical knowledge, improving farm productivity, and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. Through a participatory and community-based approach, SARDA works directly with farmers, farmer groups, and rural institutions to disseminate modern agricultural technologies and best practices.
SARDA delivers extension services through a wide range of programs and schemes, including the Central Sector Scheme (CSS) for Formation and Promotion of Farmer-Producer Organisations under the CBBO model, NABARD’s Producer Organisation Development Fund – Interest Free Loan (PODF-ID), Farm Sector Promotion Fund (FSPF), Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP), Krishak Pathshala, and Tribal Development Fund (TDF-WADI), among others. These initiatives help farmers adopt improved cultivation practices, enhance farm productivity, and strengthen their resilience to climate variability.
SARDA implements a variety of extension activities such as farmer trainings, field demonstrations, farmer field schools, exposure visits, crop advisory services, and technology dissemination programs. SARDA also supports farmers in adopting climate-resilient crops, improved seed varieties, soil and water conservation practices, integrated pest management, and efficient input use.
Through its network of Farmer-Producer Organisations (FPOs) supported by institutions such as NABARD, SFAC, NDDB, NCDC, and UPPCF, SARDA further strengthens extension outreach by enabling collective learning, peer-to-peer knowledge sharing, and improved access to agricultural services. These farmer institutions serve as platforms for capacity building, technology adoption, and market-oriented farming.
By working closely with government departments, agricultural universities, research institutions, and technical experts, SARDA ensures that farmers receive timely technical guidance and access to relevant innovations. Through these extension services, SARDA contributes to enhancing agricultural productivity, promoting sustainable farming systems, and improving the livelihoods of rural communities across its operational areas.
