- Bharat India Jodo- BIJ 0.3, “Resilient Communities, Mandla- A Reliance Foundation Project
Reliance Foundation's Flagship Programme, Bharat-India-Jodo 3.0, implemented by SARDA aims at bridging the developmental gap between rural and urban India. This initiative, dedicated to rural transformation, specifically targets small and marginal farmers struggling with limited livelihood options. These farmers, predominantly owning rain-fed lands, face challenges such as insufficient irrigation facilities and reliance on single crops. As a result, they often cannot utilize their entire landholdings due to poor soil quality or inadequate resources. Consequently, their income potential is significantly restricted, compelling many to migrate in search of unskilled labor opportunities. Through RF BIJ 3.0, SARDA is facilitating these farmers to receive support to enhance their agricultural practices and diversify their income sources, ultimately guiding them towards sustainable livelihoods.
In the current socio-economic environment, the RF BIJ 3.0 Project plays a crucial role in uplifting marginal farmers by promoting sustainable livelihood practices. SARDA aims to reduce the risks associated with farming, lessen external dependencies, and enhance the lives and livelihoods of rural communities. By emphasizing low-cost, high-output sustainable agriculture techniques, by implementing the RF BIJ 3.0 project in the Mandla district, SARDA helps farmers boost their productivity and capitalize on market opportunities to increase their income.
Moreover, the program fosters collaboration among farmers by organizing them into collectives, enabling them to benefit from the strength of unity. These innovative models of social and economic development are community-driven, ensuring that the development initiatives are owned, controlled, and managed by the local communities themselves. This approach not only benefits the individual beneficiaries but also contributes to the overall advancement of the village and region.
By promoting self-reliance, enhancing productivity, and fostering community collaboration, SARDA is paving the way for a more prosperous and sustainable future for farmers and rural regions.
